The flagship CSI postgraduate executive-professional qualification, integrating professional certification, applied governance, enterprise risk, organisational resilience and executive security leadership.
§Programme overview
A cumulative route from professional expertise to executive leadership
PGDCSL recognises achievement across the complete CSI certification pathway and a final Executive Integration Portfolio. It develops and assesses the ability to lead cyber, physical and operational technology security as one governed organisational function.
The programme is intended for experienced practitioners, managers, security leaders and executives who need to connect enterprise governance, risk, resilience, regulatory obligations and transformation with practical executive decision-making.
Unified governance
Establish enterprise governance structures, executive reporting, board oversight and accountability across security domains.
Enterprise risk
Identify and govern hybrid, systemic and cascading risks through defensible risk appetite, monitoring and treatment decisions.
Operational resilience
Integrate business continuity, crisis leadership, incident response and organisational recovery into strategic resilience.
Security transformation
Lead multidisciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders and deliver practical maturity roadmaps and transformation programmes.

Five integrated components - 90 CSI Academic Credits
Credits accumulate as each qualification component is completed. Every component is mandatory for the standard pathway, and the Executive Integration Portfolio is mandatory for all candidates.

Choose the route that reflects your experience
CSI recognises both structured progression and substantial professional achievement. Recognition of Prior Learning decisions are evidence-based, individually assessed and subject to CSI approval.
Standard pathway
Open to candidates progressing through the CSI qualification framework. No minimum professional experience requirement applies.
CSCE - CSP - CSL - CCSO - Portfolio - PGDCSLExperienced leader pathway
For applicants with at least 15 years of relevant experience and at least five years of leadership responsibility who meet direct CSL assessment requirements.
Direct CSL assessment - CCSO - Portfolio - PGDCSLExecutive pathway
For applicants with at least 15 years of experience and demonstrable executive governance, risk, resilience and board-level responsibility.
Direct CCSO assessment - Portfolio - PGDCSLRecognition of Prior Learning: advanced standing may be approved for eligible certification components, but it never removes the requirement to complete the Executive Integration Portfolio. Executive applicants submit a professional evidence portfolio and undergo formal review.
§Capstone assessment
Executive Integration Portfolio
The capstone is a practical executive submission, not a traditional academic dissertation. Candidates apply the complete CSI pathway to a real, simulated or proposed organisational environment.

- Five-year standard registration validity, with approved extensions where justified
Qualification status: PGDCSL is an independent professional postgraduate qualification awarded by CSI. It is designed at postgraduate executive-professional level and broadly benchmarked against Level 7 learning outcomes for comparison purposes. It is not a university degree, Master's degree or nationally regulated qualification, and the 90 CSI Academic Credits do not automatically constitute transferable university credit.
